Pictures of Benefit Art Sale

Rainshadow Charter High School Student Art For Sale
Proceeds go to each student artist and the school.
RCCHS students are typically indigent, sometimes homeless, or have limited financial support. As Rainshadow is a public, charter school, students are not required to pay tuition. The school has undergone a major transformation over the past year moving to a new building, adding a culinary arts program to its other programs: an organic agriculture program, basketball team, drama club, art and film programs, and science and technology programs. With the addition of the culinary arts program, the school has added a coffee shop open to the public. It features freshly baked goods prepared by the students. Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with all sales benefiting the school. Rainshadow also works with many community groups like The Holland Project, which utilizes the facility to provide all ages music and art events. Art show sale proceeds will go towards supporting all of these innovative programs, basic day-to-day supplies and will also go towards the building lease, maintenance, utilities, salaries, and benefits. All of the programs at Rainshadow have a focus on getting students competitive in our modern and ever changing world.

Founded in 2003, RCCHS is an alternative learning environment that is community based and project oriented. Rainshadow students earn 22.5 credits in specific areas in order to earn a regular high school diploma; students will need to successfully complete at least 45 classes. The school and its teaching staff are dedicated to successfully graduating high school students with the tools, the motivation and the attitudes essential for productive life-long learning. The localized interdisciplinary curriculum works to involve students in authentic learning situations and classroom events that allow students to become involved in the learning process. Schedules are designed to allow students the maximum amount of freedom of choice while meeting the requirements of Nevada State standards and providing a regular high school diploma. Since its founding, Rainshadow has graduated 53 students. The 2010 graduating class has 26 students.
